Be Positive Toys

For a Positive Start in Life

Will my child make a difference in the world?

themorethatyoureadMany parents aspire that their children will grow up and become an important member of their community that will influence others in a positive manner.  But are there things parents can do to mold their kids to become these types of people?

Get out there are get involved. Children who are exposed to different experiences will be well-rounded. Get them to try sports, gymnastics or dancing. Enroll them in playschool or preschool. Arrange play dates or go to the park. They will learn how to be social and how to interact with others.

Read to them! If you instill the love of reading in your child, there are no limits to what your child will learn. These lessons may lead to all kinds of adventures and experiences. Referring to Dr. Seuss “The more you read, the more you will know. The more that you know the more places you’ll go.” This can not be truer.

Be a good role model. Parents have the most influence in a child’s early life and that is something to take seriously. By watching and mimicking what we do, our children experiment with different actions, attitudes, language and emotions. None of us is perfect but if we remain aware of our little copy cats; we should always display loving, caring and positive behavior. Don’t forget that they are always watching. Does your child talk negatively? Are they worrying? Do they argue with others? Take a look at your own behavior and chances are, this is the way you are behaving whether you are aware or not.

The bottom line is that we need to support and accept our children for who they are. Trying to make them fit a certain mold will only lead to dissatisfaction for both of you and cause strained relationships. Some will grow prominent in the spotlight of society. Others will make a difference in more subtle ways. Give them the right nurturing and then watch them blossom. They will most certainly amaze you with their beauty.
